Embrace this journey as an opportunity to discover yourself, knowing each step brings you closer to living a happy life.
Gender reassignment surgery is a medical procedure that helps individuals with gender dysphoria to align their physical features with their gender identity. It is a process that involves psychological evaluation, hormone therapy, and various surgical procedures.
*For the operation to be performed, the person must be over 18, a hospital or committee report stating that gender reassignment is now necessary for mental health, a court decision, and the person must be single.

Recovery and follow-up care
The recovery period after gender reassignment surgery can vary depending on the procedures performed. It is essential for individuals to carefully follow their surgeon’s post-operative instructions to expedite recovery and minimize the risk of complications. Follow-up care may include regular visits with the surgeon and ongoing hormone therapy.
Stages of gender reassignment surgery:
Hormone therapy: Many individuals undergo hormone therapy before surgery to help align their physical features with their gender identity. Hormone therapy may include testosterone for those transitioning to male and estrogen and anti-androgens for those transitioning to female.
Surgical procedures: Depending on the desired outcome, several surgical procedures can be part of gender reassignment surgery. These may include:
-Top surgery: This involves the surgical alteration of the breasts to remove breast tissue (in those transitioning to male) or create breasts (in those transitioning to female).
-Bottom surgery: This refers to the surgical alteration of the genitals. For those transitioning to male, this may include phalloplasty (creation of a penis) or metoidioplasty (enlargement of the clitoris). For those transitioning to female, this may consist of vaginoplasty (the result of a vagina) or labiaplasty (reshaping of the labia).
-Facial surgery: Some individuals may also choose to have facial surgery to change the shape of their face to better align with their gender identity.
Risks and complications
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks and potential complications associated with gender reassignment surgery. These may include bleeding, infection, scarring, loss of sensation, and unsatisfactory cosmetic results.

MTF gender reassignment surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. The specific procedures can be carried out in a single surgery or multiple surgeries over a certain period. Recovery time varies depending on the procedures performed but generally involves several weeks of rest and limited physical activity.
Male to female (MTF)
gender reassignment surgery
typically involves several different procedures that can be carried out in stages over several months or years. The specific methods depend on the individual’s anatomy and the desired outcome.
Orchiectomy: This is the surgical removal of the testicles. It is typically the first step in MTF gender reassignment surgery and is done to reduce testosterone production in the body.
Penectomy: This involves the surgical removal of the penis. The penis skin is circumferentially incised, and the penis is degloved and removed. The tissues remaining in the penis, such as spongy, cavernous tissues, are placed under the skin of the groin to achieve the fullness of the vulva lips. The remaining tissue is reshaped to form a clitoris.
Vaginoplasty: This is the creation of a vagina. The procedure involves using skin from the penis or scrotum to create the vaginal canal and may also include using a skin graft. The inner labia are also made using skin from the penis or scrotum. However, the most significant disadvantage of this situation is dryness during sexual intercourse. Therefore, a piece of the intestine is used in vagina construction. Dryness is not observed in this case.
Breast augmentation: This involves the placement of breast implants to create feminine breasts.
Facial feminization surgery: This can involve various procedures to change the shape of the face, including forehead reduction, brow lift, rhinoplasty (nose job), and chin reshaping.
Voice feminization surgery: This is a type of surgery that involves altering the vocal cords to create a higher-pitched voice.
Female to Male (FTM)
gender reassignment surgery
also typically involves several different procedures carried out in stages over several months or years. The operations performed vary depending on the individual’s anatomy and desired outcome.
Some procedures that may be involved in FTM gender reassignment surgery include:
Hysterectomy and oophorectomy: The surgical removal of the uterus and ovaries. This is typically the first step in FTM gender reassignment surgery to reduce estrogen production in the body.
Phalloplasty: This is the creation of a penis. The procedure involves using tissue from the forearm or thigh to create a phallus that includes a urethra and erectile tissue. Alternatively, the clitoris can be enlarged using tissue from the labia to make a small penis. To achieve an erection, a rigid material must be placed inside this soft tissue. For this purpose, either a penile prosthesis, also known as a happiness rod or a small piece of bone is used. The penile prosthesis used is bendable. It is regularly bent, and the person brings the penis to an erect position by pressing a button when they want to engage in sexual intercourse. There are also pump-operated versions of these prostheses. When a button is clicked under the testicles, the penis lengthens and thickens. The other method to achieve penile rigidity is a piece of bone taken from the fibula. In this case, the penis remains constantly erect.
Metoidioplasty: This is a less invasive alternative to phalloplasty and involves hormone therapy to enlarge the clitoris. The clitoris is then released from the surrounding tissue and repositioned to form a small penis.
Scrotoplasty: This involves the creation of a scrotum to house testicle implants.
Testicle implants: These are placed in the scrotum to create a more masculine appearance.
Chest reconstruction: This involves the surgical removal of breast tissue and the creation of a more masculine chest contour. This can be done through a double incision mastectomy or peri-areolar surgery.
Facial masculinization surgery: This can involve various procedures to alter the shape of the face, including forehead shaping, rhinoplasty (nose job), and jaw reshaping.

What should be done before
Gender Reassignment Surgery?
As with all elective surgeries that change one’s appearance, patients undergoing gender reassignment surgery must be physically and mentally prepared for the surgery. Controlling chronic illnesses, losing weight, and quitting/reducing smoking, as well as pausing hormone therapy, can reduce anaesthesia-related mortality and morbidity risks and postoperative complications such as flap loss and wound healing issues. How an individual will identify themselves or how they will be placed, and the legal processes involved after gender reassignment surgery are also among the complex issues to consider.
How Long Does
Gender Reassignment Surgery Take?
With the availability of technological equipment, gender reassignment surgery also
requires a recovery process. Not only the
recovery process but also the completion of legal procedures are involved in the process. Legal procedures can take from 6 to 8 months to complete. Once the legal process is completed, the surgical operation process begins.
Depending on the methods used, the surgery process can vary. For individuals who receive general anaesthesia in Turkey, their stay is
typically 7-8 days, while for those who receive local anaesthesia, this period is around 5-7 days.
WHAT OUR PATIENTS THINK OF US
For as long as I can remember I have been unhappy with my nose, and the moment I found the perfect circumstances, I jumped on the opportunity. I had the time, money and support to find the perfect doctor for my needs in Antalya with the help of EverYoung.
The nose surgery didn’t only enhance the appearance of my nose as I wished, it also reshaped my broken nose and opened up my airway breathing! The results exceeded my expectations from a beauty and health perspective.
It’s never easy to decide to perform a surgery, and people do it in different reasons and ways. The most important thing is to do your research and ensure you are in good hands. I felt so supported by the EverYoung and so comfortable with my doctor that I was not nervous at all, I was more excited for the results that I have been waiting for many many years.
Now, two weeks after the surgery and I am in love with the shape of my nose. As a bonus, I got so many compliments from all my friends and family. The best part is, no one can tell I had a plastic surgery done, only my loved ones can see a beautiful new shape.
Thank you EverYoung!
